Argentina Declassification Project

From 2016 to 2019, at the request of the President of the United States, the Department of the Defense, along with other Federal agencies conducted searches, public release reviews, and released records to clarify the facts surrounding human rights abuses, acts of terrorism and political violence in Argentina from 1975-1985. This effort was in response to a personal request from Argentine President Mauricio Macri to confront the past with "honesty and transparency." Multiple DoD Component staffs searched thousands of documents and millions of pages for relevant records.

This website contains the responsive and releasable document sets for the following DoD Components: Office of the Secretary of Defense, Joint Staff, Department of the Army, and United States Southern Command.
